The mission was to create product package design for a traditional Chinese pastry manufacturer with a plan to rebrand into a new generation scone brand. The final design package included a brand guide, mascot design and the package design with mock up.
At the initial phase of the project, the client highlighted the preference to have a more British vibe to the brand due to the fact that scone is a British pastry. Started from a palette of blue, red and white, the colours of the UK flag, we have a palette of analogous color from the red blue and white color family. At first we attempted with a more humorous approach, created 3 characters for the different scone flavours with respective taglines. At the later phase, the client has raised preference in another direction for the character design and reduce to 1 flavour only. With their choice of animal, a chipmunk, the second version of the mascot was created.
